Before seeking advice from Kuan Yin, it is important to understand that:

If the person is SICK OR UNWELL, the first step is always seek Medical Advice. It is important to understand that deities are unable to help if individual are unable to take basic actions to care for themselves. If, after consulting multiple medical professionals, one still finds themselves in a state of illness, it may then be appropriate to seek guidance from Kuan Yin, the bodhisattva of Mercy. By combining both medical and spiritual approaches, individuals may find a more comprehensive path to healing.

GOOD or BAD Qian /Poe / lot does not mean the outcome is confirmed. It depends on how you ask and certain "intervention" actions may change the outcome. E.g. a sale project manager seek Kuan Yin advice as he wanted to bid for a project at a lower quote to increase his chance of winning the project. His got a bad qian in return and was upset with it. Instead, he decided to place a much higher bid since he thought that he has no chance anyway. To his surprize, he won the bid (as there are no other bidder). It is then he realised that if he had bid at a lower quote, he may suffer losses and therefore Kuan Yin gave him a bad qian since his question is about bidding low. Similarly, a good qian does not always mean good, if one become lazy.

Doing many good deeds overtime may also affect the outcome. There is a Chinese saying that doing one good deed each day (日行一善) helps bring better fortune.

For those seeking job opportunities, please take this as an advice and make sensible judgement. E.g. If one ask about resigning from company and the Chim or Poe says ok, it does not mean you must resign immediately. Please be sensible and look for job before you resign as you will still need income to survive. (See "How to ask the right question")

What are Moon Blocks (Poe)?

These are a pair of small red wooden blocks shape like moon that are used to seek divine guidance in the form of a yes or no answer.

After each question, throw these Poe on the floor. Only a consecutive throw of 3 Sheng Poe (see below) mean "Approved".

It may looks simple but whole tradition process is lengthy.

Here are the 4 combinations:

Sheng Jiao (圣筊) or Sheng Poe is when one Moon Block has the flat side facing up, and the other has it facing down. It indicate that Kuan Yin "approved". Throwing 3 consecutive Sheng Poe means "Ok to proceed"

Xiao Jiao (笑筊) or Xiao Poe is when both blocks with rounded sides facing downwards. It symbolise laughter, and is interpreted as the Kuan Yin laughing at the proposition, e.g. a bad idea or things have been decided, or the question asked lacks relevancy. NO GO

Ku Jiao (哭筊) Or Bo Poe(沒杯). is when both blocks with rounded side facing up. This indicates that Kuan Yin is upset with the question you asked. NO GO

Li Jiao (立筊) is a rare phenomenon when one or both of the moon blocks stand on its sides instead of facing up or down. It means Kuan Yin does not understand the question and therefore nullified. It is rumour that these would only happen when deities wanted to convince non-believer requestors through displaying this unique "power".

What is QIAN /Chim ?

• There are 100 individual numbered bamboo sticks in a wooden bucket.

• WHEN TO USE QIAN than Poe: Only after Moon block or Poe does not give you the final response.

• There may be more than 1 Chim for the same question, keeping the chim in sequence for the whole narrative is important. See details on "How to ask the right questions."

• With the chosen number lot, please DO NOT INTEPRET the lot for complex question YOURSELF as we are all unconscious biased.

• GOOD or BAD Qian does not mean the result is confirmed. It depends on how you ask and your own actions is the one that may change the outcome.

• After reviewing the number lot, you can burn the "bad" lot under the container below the oil lamps at the Incense area. Good or medium lot can be kept or burn too.

How to Ask the Right Questions

Example. Asking for better Job that is more suitable

Think of 5 types of job that you think is suitable of your interest and list this down. i) Primary school Teacher, ii) Tech Farmer iii) Policeman iv) Open a F&B shop v)IT Project manager.

Step 1: Preparation: Before asking any question, always light up incense and pray before placing the incense sticks at urn.

STEP 2: Ask Kuan Yin " I'm xxxx, born on xx xx, I'm living at zzzz. DEAR KUAN YIN, MAY I SEEK YOUR ADVICE TODAY?" I'm had shortlist 5 jobs (Teacher, IT manager, engineer, sales manager, property agent) for your advice"

STEP 3: Throw the Poe on floor (1 time only): if is Sheng Poe, proceed Step 4, otherwise try 1 more time. if the 3th time is not Sheng Poe, please come back another day.

Step 4: "Dear Kuan Yin, I'm had shortlist 5 jobs for your advice, may I seek your advice which one is more suitable for me?" "I'll start with the 1st one - Teacher in public school. Throw the Poe:

if the 1st throw is not Sheng Poe, move to the next job, "Dear Juan Yin, what about IT manager?" Keeping moving to the next job if the 1st throw is not Sheng Poe.

If one of the job is consecutive 3 Sheng Poe, congratulations, you are highly to be a good chance in getting the job that you mentioned.

if the throw has only One or zero Sheng Poe, it means it is beyond this 5 jobs and propose another few jobs some other day.

if the specific throw has 2 Sheng Poe and 1 other combination, it means the result is are 70-80% completed but need to communicate via Qian. Ask Kuan Yin if it can be resolved by Qian. (throw the Poe one time). If it is Sheng Poe, please proceed while other combination means to stop.

Shake the Qian bucket and one bamboo stick (Qian) will drop on floor, followed by throwing Moon blocks (3 consecutive Sheng Poe) for confirmation. Keep the Qian next to you.(do not put back the same Qian into the bucket). Ask Kuan Yin again, if there is more Qian required(Use Poe). Repeat this Qian process until the Poe is no longer Sheng Poe.

Last step: Always thank Kuan Yin and deities and make offering after seeking advice.

STEP 1 - Preparation- (Always start off Poe and not Chim)

• Before asking any question, always light up incense and pray

• Mention your full name, date of birth, home address.

• Mentioned that you are here to seek Kuan Yin advise and place the incense into the urn.

• collect the Poe from the side counter and kneel down in the RED seats.

  STEP 2: ASK: "DEAR KUAN YIN, MAY I SEEK YOUR ADVICE TODAY?"

  STEP 3: Throw the Poe on floor (1 time only) . If the Poe are opposite face (Sheng Poe), it means you can procced. (For other combination, ask one more time. If the Poe are on the same face after 2nd tries, please come back another day for advise. There are various reasons, it could be your own mental mood is unstable, etc.)

  STEP 4: ask ONE, CLEAR and SHORT question and throw the poe

• 1st Throw: IF Sheng Poe, proceed to 2nd throw. For other combinations, the Kuan Yin response is "no, no good, or unclear question". Attempt another way to ask question and restart 1st Throw again.

• 2nd consecutive Throw: IF Sheng Poe, proceed to 3th throw. For other combinations, the Kuan Yin response is "no, or unclear question". Attempt another way to ask question and restart 1st Throw again.

3th consecutive Throw: IF Sheng Poe, means "ok, good". Goto Step 5

3th consecutive Throw: For other combinations, It means that the response to the question is about 70-80% success but need more "intervention". Finding out what is this intervention can be time consuming and hard.

Qian process : Ask Kuan Yin if it can be resolved by Qian. (throw the Poe one time). If it is Sheng Poe, please proceed while other combination means to stop. Shake the Qian bucket and one bamboo stick (Qian) will drop on floor, followed by throwing Moon blocks (3 consecutive Seng Poe) for confirmation. Keep the Qian next to you.(do not put back the same Qian into the bucket). Ask Kuan Yin again, if there is more Qian required. Repeat this Qian process until the Poe is no longer Sheng Poe.

Step 5: Thank Kuan Yin and deities and make offering after seeking advice.

The Chim in sequence is a message from Kuan Yin on the overall stories or advice that you need to pay attention. Get a Master to help decipher for complex case.

Asking the right question take some practice and patient.

Frequently asked questions

What if I cannot speak Chinese, would Kuan Yin or the deities understand?

In the God's world, they would understand your intention, regardless of languages as our thoughts can be understand by the deities.

How much do i need to donate to the temple?

It is up to you as individual as long as you have spare cash. You can also buy incense sticks for others to use in the temple.

Can i only keep the good Qian only?

Qian is only a message, it is not a protection talisman. You can burn or keep the good or bad Qian if you want to refer to it.

Why do the temple give away cut flowers in packets?

As the flowers are blessed, it is for you to bring home and place the flowers into the pails for showering. It is to cleanse negative energy and bad luck!

I see many people throw 1 Poe (Moon rocks) only? Is this 1 or 3 times? This process can be very long.

For proper and accurate results, it is important to get the confirmation via consecutive 3 Sheng Poe.
