INTRO

Discover the serene spirit of Kuan Yin Temple located in Waterloo Street, Singapore. Kuan Yin, (Guan Yin, Kuan Yin or Kwan Im) is the Goddess of Mercy, who will respond and advice devotees upon sincere request (有求必应).

In addition to Kuan Yin, the temple houses altars to other notable deities, including Da Mo, the first patriarch of Chan (Zen) Buddhism, and Hua Tuo, a renowned Han-dynasty physician and the patron saint of medicine.

Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple has a long history of charitable contributions including support of several health and educational initiatives, such as the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) Development Fund and the National Kidney Foundation (NKF), where it sponsored 2 dialysis centers. Their philanthropy extends across communities exemplified by its donations to the Singapore Indian Education Trust and contributions to Singapore's cultural and artistic development where the temple was recognized as a Patron of the Arts in 2002.
